Lenny Welch

Lenny Welch was an underrated soul singer from the 60's, with a distinct, smooth style. He recorded a very
early Seals and Crofts composition, "If You See My Love." It is a perfectly suited,
soulful ballad -- actually more representative of the 50's-style delivery,
or "Unchained Melody." The string arrangement by Archie Bleyer is crystalline.

IF YOU SEE MY LOVE
(music and lyrics by Jimmy Seals and Dash Crofts, 1964)

If you see my love, just say hello. But please don't tell my love all that you know.
For I know that she would only laugh at me.
If you see my love, just say I'm fine. But please don't tell my love she's on my mind.
For I know that she would only laugh at me.

Don't you tell her that I'm sorry. Don't let her know I'm blue.
And if she hints, don't let her sense the pain I'm going through.

If you see my love while passing by, oh please don't tell my love you saw me cry.
For I know that she would only laugh at me.
